How to Treat Thrush on the Roof of the Mouth with Medical and Home Remedies

  • Use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
  • Consumption of acidic fruits and vegetables.
  • Punctured by objects that cause injury such as: sharp tooth surfaces, toothbrushes, braces or other dental equipment that can trigger sores and cause canker sores.
  • Exposure to food allergens, toothpaste or mouthwash.
  • Helicobacter pylori infection which can cause peptic ulcers.

Complex thrush can be experienced by patients with immune system diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease, lupus and AIDS, or in patients with nutritional problems.

How to treat thrush on the roof of the mouth

Canker sores on the roof of the mouth usually heal on their own. However, there are several ways to treat canker sores on the roof of the mouth that you can do to speed healing.

Topical medicine

Topical drugs are drugs that are applied directly to canker sores, can be smeared or sprayed, depending on the drug preparation. This drug can reduce inflammation, relieve pain and prevent infection.

Types of topical medications that can be used to treat canker sores on the roof of the mouth include:

  • Topical pain medications: These are over-the-counter medications that can be used to relieve pain in the area around canker sores, such as oral benzocaine gel and lidokan.
  • Topical anti-inflammatory drugs: Canker sores containing steroids and their use must be prescribed by a doctor such as triamcinolone acetonide or fluocinonide. Medicines are usually used for canker sores caused by immune system disorders or occur regularly every menstruation.
  • Topical antibiotics: These medications may be prescribed by a doctor if thrush is caused by a bacterial infection.

Salt water

Gargling salt water is one way to treat canker sores on the roof of the mouth that is practical and safe. To do this, simply dissolve 1 teaspoon of salt in 1/2 cup of warm water. Then use the solution to rinse your mouth for 15 to 30 seconds. Repeat this every few hours as needed.

Honey

Honey has long been known to have antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, so it is believed that it can help heal mouth ulcers naturally. Applying honey on the canker sore area is considered to reduce the pain, size, and redness of the canker sore, as well as help prevent secondary infection. To use it, simply apply honey to the affected area four times a day.

Chamomile tea

Chamomile flowers contain azulene and levomenol compounds which have anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties. Use a chamomile tea bag to compress the canker sore for a few minutes. You can also use brewed chamomile tea to gargle three to four times a day.

Baking soda solution

Another way to treat canker sores on the roof of the mouth is to use a solution of baking soda. This ingredient can help restore the pH balance in the oral cavity and reduce inflammation, thereby supporting the healing of canker sores. To make canker sores using baking soda, dissolve 1 teaspoon of baking soda in 1/2 cup of water. Use the solution to gargle for 15 to 30 seconds and repeat every few hours as needed.

Yogurt

Yogurt is believed to be an option for treating canker sores naturally, especially those caused by the H. Pylori bacteria. Because, the lactobacillus in yogurt is considered to help eradicate H. pylori and treat several types of inflammatory bowel disease. To prevent and treat canker sores, you should consume one cup of yogurt every day.

Candy containing zinc

Lozenges containing zinc (zinc) can help boost the body’s immunity to fight the bacteria that cause canker sores. Taking these throat lozenges can also help speed up the healing time of canker sores. To help heal faster, avoid things that can make canker sores worse such as eating acidic foods, brushing your teeth too hard or exposure to allergens.

That’s the cause of thrush on the roof of the mouth and how to treat it. Call your dentist right away if the canker sore is very painful, causes difficulty drinking, is very large, spreads, or lasts more than 3 weeks. Also beware if thrush is accompanied by a high fever.
